Where nature thrives,
humans thrive

At KKL-JNF we believe in community. That’s why we invest in activities that strengthen communities through deep and lasting connections with nature. From preparing land for farming to developing parks, trails, and community forests, or even creating green areas where parents and soldiers can meet and enjoy time together, KKL-JNF is there for people and their environment.

Building inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable communities

KKL-JNF creates and maintains open spaces including local forests, urban parks, community gardens, and biofilters to improve urban environments and support sustainable living. Open to all free of charge, KKL-JNF forests and open spaces invite everyone to experience nature. KKL-JNF prepares land for the expansion of communities, as well as for agriculture.

We work closely with local communities on a range of projects including providing regional councils with an average of 300,000 saplings for use in community forests. We also construct urban bike trails that connect neighborhoods to one another and to local forests, parks, and recreation sites.

We run forest education programs, through which kindergarten and elementary-aged schoolchildren regularly enjoy a day of learning in forest settings, giving them an opportunity to connect with nature. In addition, KKL-JNF Heritage Centers, active in several communities, provide opportunities for academic and social development to youth in the periphery.

We don’t limit our activity to Israel either. We share knowledge and know-how with developing countries like Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, China, and India and support students from Cambodia, Cape Verde, East Timor, Figi, Gambia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vanuatu, and Vietnam in their studies at the Arava International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT).

Last but not least, we are involved with planning and support on a regional and national level, promoting forest conservation and the preservation of other natural resources for the wellbeing of residents.
