In the Galilee and the Western Negev, thousands of acres of forest were lost to missile fire, military activity, and increasingly extreme weather. Climate change continues to threaten Israel’s forests and environment: winters grow shorter, hot dry days become more frequent. Nearly every forest fire turns into a large-scale natural disaster.
